I'm looking forward to our reunion and seeing all the classmates we have missed for many years. Like most of you, I have used the skills taught in every shop we had to take at Girard. Who knew that all those trades would come in handy later in life?

For the past 11 years I have been the CFO for the largest private residential air-conditioning contractor in Arizona, and maybe in the U.S. The new home construction over the last several years has been extraordinary. However, I am planning to retire next year. My personal life has been exciting. I have coached soccer, then softball and finally baseball every year from 1990 until last year. Elizabeth played soccer as a young girl, then focused on softball through high school including numerous club and travel teams. She was a lefty pitcher. Ryan also started with soccer, but has focused on baseball since he was 12. Surprise, surprise. My love for the game has stood the time. Ryan also has played through high school including club and travel teams. He is currently completing his freshman year at at small college in Kansas where he has a partial baseball scholarship. Our oldest daughter, Karla, graduated from Arizona State University and is now the Human Resource Director at our company. She married four years ago and has made us proud grandparents of a little girl named Reagan. Elizabeth graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degreee in elementary education. She is completing her first year as a first grade teacher. She got married last May. Maria and I will be celebrating our 26th anniversary in August, and we are looking forward to many more. |

Wow! Where has the time gone- and still so much to do. Seems like only yesterday when we piled the breakfast scrapple on one table in protest-only to get it served again the next morning! Sad to hear so many of our classmates have passed on and won't make the 50th but sure they will be looking down on all of us and smiling. |

The education we received at Girard proved to be beneficial in my personal life and in my professional career. The years spent in the military were a breeze because of the discipline we received at Girard. The negative part of Girard, to me, is that to this day I can't eat spinich, broccoli or rhubarb (thanks for that Housemasters & Governesses). Most of all I would like to thank you, classmates, and especially you, Mr. Stephen Girard, for providing me and countless others with a wonderful life at the Hum. |

Thanks to the hard core classmates who saw us through to this 50th year - Ed, Jim, etc., thank you!. It will be great seeing all who can come back - after my triple by-pass in 2005 I'm happy to be among those who can come back. It was interesting to note how often classmates mentioned how much our training and experience in the Hum helped us deal with whatever life threw at us. Not a day goes by that some thought or memory of the Hum doesn't surface with me. They're always good, and some damn funny. Those years - you guys - those experiences - formed me, molded me, made what I am. Enough of the heavy stuff - - see you all in May. |
